On April 20, 2011 we heard the words from our son’s doctor no patent wants to hear, “we’ve done all that we can there’s nothing left we can do.” We were devastated, heartbroken and left wondering why did this happen as we held him in our arms for the last time. It’s so hard sometimes to understand why God allows us to go through pain and suffering. If there’s one thing our son’s life has taught us is there is no pain God won’t turn into something better when we allow him. God uses everything. Thank you for walking with me in this journey. If you liked following our story, click on link my bio and read 10 lessons we learned from our son. Share what you have gained from loss and how God has used your pain in the comments below. If you were inspired to sponsor a child because of our son please share with me why you chose to sponsor a child. Although Bowen’s life was short, it impacted us greatly. He showed us God’s love is for real and meant to be shared with others. The legacy of Bowen’s life lives on because we choose to share God’s love with people like Victor. I hope you were encouraged by Bowen’s story and inspired to give hope! I can’t believe it’s been 7 years since this picture was taken. This is the first time I met Victor our sponsor child. We met Victor because we chose to honor our son’s life. You never know what God will do and how he will turn beauty out of ashes. Every life has meaning and purpose. When I went to Honduras I went with the mentality I was going to help them, but really they helped me more than I ever helped them. To give is to receive something so much more And apart of something greater than ourselves. How have you chose to honor a loved ones life? Will you help us honor our sons life by sponsoring a child through @compassion? Our goal is to get 10 kids sponsored for Bowen’s 10 year anniversary. So far 3 kids have been sponsored and need 7 more! Praying God uses Bowen’s life to open the doors of opportunity God has for you. “In this world you will have trouble but take heart, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33. Have you ever heard the story of the boy who was I. A beach filled with starfish washed up in the shore, who was throwing them back in the ocean one by one? A man walked by and asks the boy, why are you even bothering there are miles and miles of starfish how will you ever make a difference? The boy smiled as he threw a starfish back and said, “I made a difference for that one!” You never know how God will use your story to make a difference. Every life matters and is valuable and has a #purpose. Our son’s life has taught us so much. When I think about what kind of legacy Jesus left behind I think of his love and compassion he had for others. I think of the Good Samaritan, how he walked across the road to tend to the wounded, he didn’t walk by and ignore he did something about it. If there’s one thing our son’s life taught us, it was to cherish life and don’t miss an opportunity to show love to someone you never know when their last day is. The love we show to others matters. It is the legacy Jesus left behind when he died for our sins. #Love is why we are all here. To honor our son’s life we are setting a goal for 10 kids to be sponsored through @compassion international. It is a way to walk across the street to meet others in their hardship and not walk by, but do something about the poverty in our world. If you desire to be apart of the legacy #Jesus left behind, to be apart showing #compassion to others, consider helping us reach our goal by sponsoring a child. Just click on the link in the bio or visit www.compassion.org. #Everylifematters, is valuable and important. #hope #God #compassionheals #legacy #makeadifference #livinghope #blessed #grace #faith #bethechange #youmatter #valued #life #live #Godisbigger #trust #Godsplan #Romans828 #painandpurpose #purpose #called #belong #known #seen #heard #endpoverty
This week I will be highlighting the 10th anniversary of our son Bowen’s passing and why we sponsor a child. We never would have met Victor if it weren’t for our son. We chose to honor his life, which opened a door to so much more. His life wasn’t wasted, it wasn’t for nothing, he had a purpose and we are his hand and feet carrying that purpose out. “How beautiful are the feet that bring good news.” Romans 10:15. The devastation the pandemic left and continues to do is the
